Mother Kept Her Word

http://www.scribd.com/doc/25881345/English-Uncle-Tom-s-Cabin-Poem
This is a piece inspired by the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe. It was written in the 1800's and is about slavery in the United States. I really enjoyed this book and it is now one of my favorites. I wrote about the bond between a mother and son, both of whom are slaves, when all they had was each other. It really touched me, and i hope you enjoy it as well!

Life Poem

This is a poem that I had written about life. I was going through a time in my life when I had to choose between following the crowd, or finding my inner self. I believe that when you read this you might also start searching for your inner self. There rhyming couplets within this poem.

Fate

I was inspired to write this poem after reading Romeo and Juliet. I found it really interesting how the whole story relied on fate. It was fate that brought them together, and in the end; fate that led to their death. It's not very good, but i hope you like it! Address please(:

Blinks

This is TWO poems. I write, and then it's too short. I try to expand, but all that happens is the words get longer. The first was a freewrite. The second has no title yet. Suggestions welcome. I wrote that after talking to a friend about some arts school and then having a weird dream the next night about waking up from this life into another one and wondering if it's actually as much of a dream as sleep. I'm still confused.

A letter to Randy

I have recently read the non fiction book called The Last Lecture, By Randy Pausch. In this book, the man, Randy, is suffereing from a terminal illness. He is obviously not going to be able to continue his job as a professor, so he has to give what is called a Last Lecture. The day he is supposed to give the lecture, is the same as his wife, Jai's, birthday. For this piece, I chose to write a letter to Randy, assuming the position of Jai.

Jade Nelson- Goodbye, Mask

http://www.scribd.com/doc/26120312/Goodbye-Mask

I felt the need to write this poem after multiple epiphanies I had going into high school. With the help of family and close friends, I'm in the process of finding myself, and discovering who I want to be. How can anyone do that while hiding their inner-being?

Jade Nelson- A Game Called Life

http://www.scribd.com/doc/26120681/A-Game-Called-Life

This is the beginning of what I was hoping to become a short story; I began writing this on my free time and decided to turn it in for the fun of it. It's mostly personal and has a lot of meaning behind it.

I was mowing the grass, when a large Bolivian man walked past, with a crocodile on a leash. As I stroked the large reptile, he introduced himself as Gary Longooney. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Do whatever you please

McDonalds Letter

This is a letter to the McDonalds Corporation. My inspiration for this piece was the book Ms. Duffy read for us in class about the funny letters that were actually sent to the major corporations. You can say whatever you would like about my piece.

First Love

I wrote this piece to get feelings out during a stressful time in my life, when things with a particular boy were complicated and stressful.

The Cabin

This piece is one of my strongest in my opinion. It's not exactly real, but it's not exactly fiction either. The placement of the story is made up, but the memories and feelings are real. It's supposed to take place when I'm younger, about 7, at my cabin in Pennsylvania.

The Mind of a Man

This is a story I wrote that was a bit short. I figured it would be a base for a story and I would rewrite it in another form later on. Please press it, I can take the hit.
