In Loving Memory of Michael Iammarino

I wrote this piece about my Uncle Mike who died eight years ago. I was inspired by this piece when we read a little bit of The Last Lecture. The Last Lecture was about a man who cancer, that inspired me because my uncle died of Leukemia. This piece is just about how his death affected my life and the lives of my family.

  1. Emily, this is a really good piece of writing. I like how you described the stories you were told, I think I would have liked to hear more stories though, or more details to the stories you did tell. I like how you explained how you felt, and how your dad felt. I think you should have described like what it was actually like when they told you he was dead because you say how you remember but you don't really tell us what it is. Your grammar/punctuation looked really good in my opinion, and I think you had really good word choice. Overall good job:)

  2. Emily,
This was a very emotional piece, plus it was written well. I liked how you talked about the reactions from family members, but I don't feel that there was enough description about your reaction, but it didn't seem like you were old enough to know what happened. Great piece!

  3. Emily, this is a very strong and emotional piece. You used a lot of detail and connected with the reader easily. I also wish to hear more of your reaction and feelings towards your uncle's death. But other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. This piece was very well-written and flows very nicely as a whole. I enjoyed reading this piece!

  4. This piece was great, Emily. I really respect how you can be so open with the subject. I know how that feels and I think you did a great job capturing the emotions that come with something like that. I wouldn't change much, I think its a wonderful piece. (:
